    It’s kind of weird that this didn’t happen before.

    I’ve asked a number of drivers if they would prefer to (a) abolish speed limits, or (b) abolish speeding using technology, or (c​) maintain the status quo where speeding is prohibited but often easy to get away with and subject to biased human enforcers… and nearly everyone prefers (c​). 🤷

    In places with electronic toll collection, speeding could’ve been almost completely eliminated decades ago. Today the same is true for anywhere with ANPR (which is getting pretty ubiquitous).

    So that’s what cars were missing! More computer systems in them! It’s so obvious!

    Is it cynical to hope chip shortages kill this trend of forcing computers into every possible appliance and tool?
