A bit different this time, but I really wanted to write something about design and ProleWiki. Hope you enjoy

If we hold that everything is dialectical (and it is), and if we hold that everything exists in the material world (it does), then we could refine the saying as: “Design is just a subset of Marxism”.

That’s a strong opening. I often explain to people that Marxism means you can start with anything and explain everything once you consider all it’s relations. But I’d not really considered that it also means that anything is/could be a subset of Marxism. Food for thought!

Sometimes I write words on the screen and it’s only afterwards that they make sense to me lol, thanks 😁

You’re welcome. I second Majenrobe’s comment, too: I enjoyed reading about how another communist solves everyday problems. I can see the dialectic working through the piece, too, even if you’re self-consciously light-touch. I’m a fan of the self help genre but a lot of it is just apologism for capitalism. There’s a space in the market for communist self help!

I’m going to look at that book on five-day projects.

You mention that China in the section on constant improvement. I’m not 100% sure but if you’re interested, you might find the Chinese phrase for it in the literature on the pursuit of ‘Common Prosperity’. E.g. this whitepaper talks about ‘time-phased’ projects and ‘perseverance over generations’, which is close to what you’re talking about.

Thank you for writing this. I’m going to use this knowledge in a little plan I have. You dropped this at the right moment and time.

Had this hit my substack feed this morning and enjoyed the read. Good work! I’m going to try applying this over the next year.
