It was originally made for people who were fatally sick, there were laws that let them die, but the problem was that they effectively had no teeth because anyone could come up with any reason (usually going against the patient’s wishes) not to go through with it. The government threw their hands up and said “fuck it, if you want to die, you can die” which has naturally lead to people offing themselves to get out of debt.
Their solution to this problem is to push for mental health resources and build more rental properties; obviously it hasn’t been doing jack shit because they’re liberal bandaid “”“solutions”“” that aren’t even in the right direction of the fundamental societal rot at the core of it all.
