Haha, yeah, I didn’t used to like this song. Not at all. Haha.

To be fair to younger me even then I thought “well what does throwing bricks through Starbucks windows accomplish exactly?”

To understand why so many people, cough cough Westerners cough cough, fall into anarchism, do you mind telling us what got you there?

All the adults around me were conservative and I saw how ignorant they were, but the liberals were way too pusillanimous when it came to standing up for anything they claimed to believe. So I was just mostly apolitical, dabbling in Rand because they made us read Atlas Shrugged in school, but I realized that was shite by the time I was out of middleschool. I got into skeptictube because it was nice to see someone finally say “the earth isn’t 6000 years old” since I live in the South. But the breadtube showed me how shallow those people were, so I started getting into that and read Kropotkin. I became quickly dissatisfied with breadtube because they seemed like a bunch of liberals that lost any kind of radicalism as soon as the Patreon bucks came in. So I got really disillusioned with politics again until I saw some anarchist I followed on Twitter when I still used it getting dunked on by those darn tankies. And at first I thought “look at these nerds, telling me I need to read” and then I thought “well maybe I will read just to prove how dumb tankies are” and then I read State and Revolution and I was like “oh…” and then I read Blackshirts and the Reds and I was like “Oh… Oh!” And I’ve continued to read and learn and try to be more humble and not an extremely online nerd as best I can since then.

Thats awesome, so you sort of had to swing from each political party to the next slowly getting more progressive. It seems like those who always question why, are the ones who become MLs. I think I have always had marxist tendencies, wasn’t raised with political buzzwords but I was sort of taught socialism in principles. I was always odd so I didn’t have a social group to tell me what to think, always just bumbled around. Never went anarchist though, just slithered into Marxism-Leninism from my desire to learn.

I also remember being the only person in my middle school US history class to think bombing Hiroshima was unjustifiable so maybe I’ve always had a tumor pressing up against my empathy gland or however that works idk I’m not a doctor.

lol yeah, I live in a weirdly progressive part of Kansas, and sure it’s mostly libs, but there is also decent amount of communists. You wouldn’t get shot down for praising communism, but AES states if you catch my drift. I am doing a project in History about 9/11 so I am having a field day with Operation Cyclone.

Against Me! does have some legit good songs though. The have one about the Iraq war called “From Her Lips to God’s Ears”, I like that. And some of their less overtly political ones are nice too.

Apparently musical competence is an unjust heirarchy.
