Not that it’s a very important news, but, i.d.k., being only surrounded by (pro-)western ‘(social )medias’&multinationals is disturbing(, Japan and South Korea being welcomed&lone exceptions, although (pro-)western obviously).

The whole fuss about TikTok is completely absurd, but does play into the hands of those who want even more capitalist control of social media. Western TikTok is controlled by western capital, it is used to serve the interests of capital just as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and the rest.
Also, i.m.h.o., TikTok made a mistake when they switched to longer videos without proposing a filter to only select the previous short duration.
What’s certain is that using it makes it obvious how biased recommendations algorithms are, probably more on the western side than theirs.
Despite complying to state’s demands, Google engineers are possibly the best placed, with their a.i. and web researchs, for ‘analyzing contents’/‘being able to offer a customized recommendation feed’(, always have the impression that things advance too slowly), doesn’t mean ByteDance shouldn’t try for all i know.
