China is an authoritarian regime, no offense, this is a collective choice.
The U.S. is becoming an unpredictable economy and governance, for companies and sometimes for countries.
At the middle of that you have the European Union, and it remains a place where rule of law and predictability remains valid.

China is an authoritarian regime, no offense, this is a collective choice.
This part of it is wild. It’s like he tries to walk it back a bit, realizing it might offend China, and then manages to say something even more offensive. Implying that China is self-determining… in choosing to be “authoritarian.” Which is bad because authority bad! But also…
At the middle of that you have the European Union, and it remains a place where rule of law and predictability remains valid.
“China is authoritarian, but the EU is where rule of law remains valid.” I’m sorry, what is authoritarian then, Macron? What is its definition? Does it not involve the enforcing of laws? Can you stop pretending to be politically illiterate and use real political terms? God, Trump sucks, but at least the mask is off in his hands.
The reality is, China is the one who is predictable because they make clear plans far in advance and China is the one that follows rule of law and takes corruption and sources of instability seriously. Meanwhile, the vassal EU is crumbling under the weight of its contradictions and its dependence on the flailing US.
I mean EU has been pretty predictable since 2022, every time there is opportunity you can be sure they will lick US boot.
Authoritarian means the Sorting Hat placed your nation in Slytherin, democracy means you’re in Gryffindor, and the EU is Hufflepuff. It’s very simple.
Hilarious 🤣👍🏻
Well, well, well, what do we have here?
Gee, I wonder what that is supposed to mean!
How any educated adult could look at that example and seriously deny that France is an authoritarian régime is beyond me. Let me guess, it’s because the authorities in France are White—oops, I mean ‘Western’—isn’t it?
That seems to be about the size of it! Good ole’ racism. “Rule of law” when it’s white people in charge and “authoritarian” when it’s not.
The only problem with my guess is that I can’t tell if neoliberals consider Russians to be White or not.
Considering the Irish weren’t thought to be white at one point, it would not surprise me if there’s some conditional thinking going on there to exclude Russians where needed, even if not fully conscious as racism.
Russians lost that status again in 22.
Even earlier. They had already started excluding Russian Olympic athletes in 2008 on the basis of racist lies. Then the demonization campaign really kicked into overdrive between 2014-2016 with Russiagate. 2022 was just when the West declared total war on all Russians. Ultimately it was for the best. It made a lot of previously Europhile Russians finally wake up.
True, completely memory holed that.
Oh damn, how could I forget that neoliberals’ favorite dysphemism for Russians is ‘orcs’‽
Easy to forget because its so comically racist.
Slavs are only White when they’re aligned with the West; otherwise they’re barbarian savages with a penchant for cruelty and perversion.
Libs are very consistent about this.
It’s not just non white people, notice how there are no white true left populists in the West. It’s not that there aren’t left populists that are white, it’s the system crushes them, kills it in the cradle. They all gang up and find a way to kill any real populism that could upset the plutocratic cancer that has rotted through the entire west, now visible on the surface.
Gotta read the room! It makes perfect sense when you consider he is talking to finance oligarchs, in that context he is right! Europe is available to be purchased whereas China is not.
France banned the Hijab, but its China who are committing a cultural genocide
China is an authoritarian regime, no offense, this is a collective choice.
So what he means is, China is authoritarian by… democratic choice of the Chinese people?
I suppose that’s progress from the usual liberal position.
Normalize referring to all states as authoritarian regimes.
Regime is just a synonym for government, or administration, with a negative connotation. All governments are regimes.
As Marxists know, all states are dictatorships of one class upon another. All states hold a monopoly on the use of violence. All states are authoritarian.
France is an authoritarian regime. Germany is an authoritarian regime. The UK is an authoritarian regime. Belgium is an authoritarian regime. Italy is an authoritarian regime. The US is an authoritarian regime. Spain is an authoritarian regime. Portugal is an authoritarian regime. Luxembourg is an authoritarian regime. The Netherlands is an authoritarian regime. Austria is an authoritarian regime. Australia is an authoritarian regime. Denmark is an authoritarian regime. Sweden is an authoritarian regime. Finland is an authoritarian regime. Estonia is an authoritarian regime. Latvia is an authoritarian regime…

Coming from a member of the epstein class this is just stupid. A Doctor in a member state of the european union who is documented to have offered her daughter and her friends to epstein is still free and still head of a major cancer hospital. The EU is a Pedo-Plutocracy and has no moral high ground.
The use of “collective choice” is interesting, could it be a signal of the West backing away from accusing the seeseepee of lacking “legitimacy” and towards pure east versus west antagonism
Nothing says rule of law like punishing dissenters with extra-judicial sanctions without even trying them for any crime, just because you don’t like the things they are saying.
Macron, Starmer, the German counterpart asshole Merz or whatever, and the rest are all throwing their governments into the arms of a far right in league with illiberal forces that fully intend on fixing elections going forward.
These people are aristocrats, and believe that the trajectory the west has been on, the rich taking from working people, is sustainable, even as working people can’t afford the costs of living anymore while the rich continue to take from them, and Macron and his ilk cut crumbs thrown to working people, cheat them out of their pensions, etc.
All center parties, and left parties in the mainstream, are seized by the aristocracy, and are rendered status quo. They think popular reform is the enemy. In history they identify with the aristocracy in the french revolution, not even appreciating the value in overthrowing the feudal order. As such only the far right is running as reform, while people know they are being screwed if not by whom.
They are the only ones offering solutions, albeit mostly scapegoats, in fake populism. While we might not want to be overrun by immigrants, and there are legitimate concerns about tightening immigration up, it’s not the immigrants that stole their lunch, it’s the rich, the super rich. They will win and fix elections with the help of the US, and then become monsters amongst monsters.
Unless we get popular, muscular reform. Either we give popular reform, or this cynical far right in league with malign forces will give us fake popular reform. Macron still thinks he can continue delivering unpopular reform to further pad the plutocracy in ammassing even larger fortunes at our expense.
predictability remains valid
You stopped paying Russia for fuel and then when they cut their exports to you, you all cried foul
Also rule of law? For whom? Whoever lives within European countries? You collaborate with the US government to brutalize and rob the global South and murder African leaders who do good for their countries. You literally sent a letter to Trump saying you are on his side on the issue of Iran and Syria. I hate Trump but man am I glad he’s dogwalking the EU.
The 1961 Paris massacre (also called the 17 October 1961 massacre in France) was the mass killing of Algerians who were living in Paris by the French National Police. It occurred on 17 October 1961, during the Algerian War (1954–62). Under orders from the head of the Parisian police, Maurice Papon, the National Police attacked a demonstration by 30,000 pro-National Liberation Front (FLN) Algerians. After 37 years of denial and censorship of the press, in 1998 the government finally acknowledged 40 deaths, while some historians estimate that between 200 and 300 Algerians died. Death was due to heavy-handed beating by the police, as well as mass drownings, as police officers threw demonstrators into the river Seine.
Remind me again which party won the last French election?
Remind me again which party won the last French election?
great, now let’s ask the people in the french colonies what they think of “french authoritanianism”
The worst part is he truly believes this
I’d like to think that these guys know that they are full of shit and laugh at the ignorant masses they have fooled behind closed doors. It is somehow much scarier to think that they are true believers in their own bullshit.
I mean he is not wrong, in this instance he is clearly talking to the financial elite whom are free to plunder europe and are not allowed to plunder China.
You know you are cooked when your president has to make a sales pitch towards investors, its fairly clear who holds the power here. Isn’t it wrong that financial institutions hold this inmense amount of power?
Translation: China will chop chop you if you invest in there and start cheating and bribing, we in the EU welcome it, please give us your money.
