I’m making this post while again being sleepless, not least because i feel like contradictions are eating me alive.

I’m on mastodon and post there regularly as organization of a lot of events happens there and a lot of twitter refugees land there. With the german ccc pushing for digital independence day (lets not get into it but the contradictions are wild) it is in my opinion an important place to at least have a marxist core team or embassy if you will.

This leads me to my general idea: one person is easily triggered and shut down and I have turned to local friends and asked them to help with having at least two or three active people per platform or locality irl to not get literally pulled into a street corner and butchered.

For mastodon i feel like this is not working yet. My friends dont have time and also dont read it regularly which is an issue. Venezuela gets some coverage, same as gaza but lets be honest, “gaza” is mostly people asking for money which is its own set of contradictions. We need not focus on one topic and die of stress (which is what literally happens to me if I look at pictures of gaza) but organize people on every place possible. So a focused ML approach on mastoson would make sense. For thay i need engagement by comrades with comrades, commenting and boosting each other. Asking questions, etc.

    What are some good servers to go on? I get hit by the analysis paralysis of instances on mastadon and give up. I was lucky there was only a few big ones when I joined Lemmy.

      i think the best question here would be “what is the communist way in general?” From the movie “the communist” which you can watch for free on youtube, a soviet production btw, I derive that as communists we must see ourselves (abilities dictate the extent) as a leatherman tool which has to do everything but not perfect.

      This said and having extensive experience on mastodon, I suggest not hanging up on a single server but staying mobile. Reason being that being honest, we’re gonna get banned or expose our backs on mastodon (meaning by ownership of a server aka papertrail).

      For that reason, you can of course join any mastodon instance such as matapacos, marxist-network, union.place, etc. Its not important as you might have to hop around anyway. The idea is to start engaging with other marxists and just BEING openly marxist and showing people that this exists. Hoping around will also make you harder to silence. Its one of my issues as owning a server. I can be defederated and cant hop around a lot.

      Edit: In addition, bourgois instances might have defederated the instances mentioned above anyway and therefore it is better to join a little bit larger ones and going more crypto while smaller ones can be more open. We obviously must deploy the tactics of the enemy to get a foothold (brigading, etc.) but in a way that does not spoil the communist image as we want people to hear us, not hate us.
