Could we have a rule that prohibits commenting about Media Bias Fact Check? - Lemmy

It pops up all the time, it’s a waste of time and I’m sure it has been used countless of times to discard some piece of information. It doesn’t add up anything productive to the comments, people who comment don’t even say anything they actually think they just “did you know that MBFC says this so it has to be truth?” I could go on but I think you get the idea.

I don’t think people even want articles with no bias. Like sure you could have “no bias news” that states only objective facts without any leading language or analysis. That would be “unbiased” but boring as fuck. It wouldn’t be useful or interesting in like 94% of cases, assuming for anything newsworthy you could even know the objective facts of a situation. You could have “no bias news” that tries to be interesting with analysis but it would have to start at the beginning of history every single article to give the True Context to every situation. Otherwise you aren’t really letting the reader decide because you’re leaving out some context somewhere. It would be impossible to read or write such an article.

Like what does “unbiased media” even mean. It’s non existent. Anyone who wants “unbiased media” has zero media literacy and should not be anywhere near media to begin with

I would argue that even an unbiased news source would still have bias on the basis of what stories they cover, it’s not like newspapers can be omniscient

But then it’s not an unbiased news source to begin with.

Like the-podcast is always saying, the atomic unit of propaganda isn’t lies, but emphasis.
