Tonight’s Movie

Cud did two weeks in a row. Now it’s my turn. This week we’ll be watching the first half of Steven Soderbergh’s two-part biopic about Ernesto “Che” Guevara. You may have heard of him. He did some stuff in Cuba in the 1950s. Rode his motorcycle around LatAm.

Part One begins about the time the Granma landed in Cuba and ends about the time the Batista regime fell. Part Two, which I’ll be showing next week, shows the rest of his life.

Che: Part One “The Argentine” (2008)

The Argentine, begins as Che and a band of Cuban exiles (led by Fidel Castro) reach the Cuban shore from Mexico in 1956. Within two years, they mobilized popular support and an army and toppled the U.S.-friendly regime of dictator Fulgencio Batista.
