The US election system is so fucked up (by design) that it’s kinda funny that the dems would be more successful if they tried to move more to the right than they already are. A shit ton of people in the US already think Kamala is too far left (somehow) so moving more right would literally get a lot of their vote because there’s a good amount of right-wingers who don’t like Trump. Plus, if you convince some republicans to vote democrat it’s like you’re getting two votes (you get one vote, and republicans lose one).

Edit: I appreciate the replies, honestly I’m not in the correct mindset to make comments and think today. Sleep schedule is all messed up and I did not think my thoughts through here lol

this was the exact strategy the Democrats just lost every branch of government with

yeah how are the racist conservatives that kamala was trying to appeal to going to support a black woman over the funny cheeto man? the obvious answer is they wouldn’t, and they didn’t. kamala needed to be a candidate who could appeal to people who didn’t have those biases at the bare minimum. of course she was not

But this is exactly the logic that the Democrats have operated under since 2020, and now that strategy just lost them the election. You can’t out-right the right. Even their win in 2020 was more blind luck that Trump happened to be president when Covid hit, since Biden only ran on “vote for me cause i’m not Trump”. And any US administration would have mismanaged that just as horribly since they all serve the same class interests. There is no conceivable scenario in which a US president would put people’s lives ahead of corporate profits.

? Do you believe that about moving right getting more votes? I don’t. My analysis is that if the democrats moved farther left and focused on economics, they’d win more votes.

They don’t do this because they’re beholden to capitalist interests and the inherent contradiction between them prevents it. Because they can’t acknowledge that contradiction, they havey to speak about minorities, women, LGBT to court the left. This isn’t to say that what they’re saying about those groups is wrong, just that the analysis is weak and feels divisive to uneducated white voters.

But my general point is that with an actual left platform, they’d win.

Well, ignoring that they’d stop being funded and platformed by capitalists if they adopted such a program.
