Prof. Hudson’s main thesis is absolutely devastating: he sets out to prove that economic/financial practices in Ancient Greece and Rome – the pillars of Western Civilization – set the stage for what is happening today right in front of our eyes: an empire reduced to a rentier economy, collapsing from within.
He definitely grew up a Trotskyite. His dad took the family to Mexico to spend time with the man himself, and later was jailed on returning to the u.s.
I’ve watched and read a fair amount of Hudson’s work and I can’t recall anything about revolutionary theory, so it’s tough to say whether he’s now an ML. The man has had a fascinating life though.
