My tiktok fyp never misses. Even after all this, I still believe Canadians will not rise up.

I browse r/Alberta, which is surprisingly not as racist as I thought it’d be, and it’s the same. But it’s not only people one Reddit or social media in general, people I know IRL say the same shit! They know my grandmother and I are on very fixed incomes, and while they sympathize with our anger and stress, they still go “it sucks but we can’t change it, that’s just how it is”. They even laugh and brush me off when I say I’m going to do something about it. Very disheartening.

Yeah I think a large part of it comes from the cultural expectations of Canadians to be polite, nice, get along, be tolerant, and mind our own business. Everyone feels so powerless to change anything. Voter turnouts are the worst they’ve ever been. Everyone knows things are bad but they are either unwilling to put forth any meaningful effort to change the system, or don’t understand how to. It feels like either everyone is content fighting for crumbs or is content to be in misery as long as they have people to share it with. I think the only hope for meaningful change lies in the youth of the country. Hopefully I’m wrong but I don’t see much revolutionary potential for socialism in Canada in the near future, but that doesn’t mean I won’t stop struggling for it though.

Same, this whole thing has me making a genuine schedule for myself to hopefully fast track my ability to help organize.
Just feels kind of lonely in this province, and daunting, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to do something.
Sitting here twiddling my thumbs is making me more anxious than standing up ever could. I know I’m not ready yet, but I will be soon when school comes. The days feel slower to me as I wait for the new year.
I sound dramatic lol, but I’m just so done watching everything fall apart when I know I have the ability do help do something about it.

I hear ya. Hopefully you’ll meet some like-minded comrades while organizing when you go to school. That’s awesome you’re getting into organizing so young. I recently applied to join the CPC, only wish I had done it sooner!
