And the actual killings weren’t even on/near Tiananmen Square; those were mostly just non-violent protests and an occupation of the square (with some Maoists, some misguided liberals, and some people funded by Western agencies) and AFAICT nobody was killed. People were killed at the West-funded violent riots in other parts of Beijing, but such riots would be illegal in basically every single country
