i’m not referring to any particular quote, just the entirety of his work called “on practice”
practicing really is a constant struggle, i have to always remind myself to turn my brain on and practice well even though i’ve been doing it for years and years. i’ll just say that good practice for 10-20 minutes a day is worth 10x more than bad practice for 4 hrs a day, hahaha
You know something it’s been a month, but because of my ADHD i just started this approach and I’m feeling much better. I wanna keep it up it’s only been a week.

I’ve been having to conduct for musicianship while singing and solfege and I do find when I’m alone and practicing but when i get in front of the class or professor i absolutely mess it up and get nervous.
I’m trying my best, i do pretty well until i have to start descending vocally and it just takes a nose dive instead of going down the steps or skips properly
yeah that’s not a big surprise: anytime you do something in front of people you’re always more liable to make mistakes, that’s just how it works. the trick to performing is truly accepting that and using the increased possibility for mistakes as opportunities for improv, both of which are hard to do for something rote like solfege.
i never had to do solfege + conducting exams, but i’ve done my fair share of solfege exams. when they were conducted in front of the class (which they weren’t always) people would always stumble or be extra nervous with one or two exceptions. confidence is obviously important too, but it’s important for most people to be super confident about solfege hahaha. in any case i wouldn’t sweat it, and solfege isn’t really a singing test as much as it is an intervallic and rhythm test.
