The New Atlas is not a Marxist channel as far as I am aware but the majority of his videos are about spotting color revolutions, NED activity, etc. In general I think his videos could be good for explaining color revolution tactics to people who are not aware of the concept.

While I think most of us here know how to look for color revolution, US interference, and so on, I think he brings up some observations worth noting in conjunction with the quotes he reads from the Brookings paper.

He mentions, “why is the U.S at this juncture attempting to punish the Iranian government? well, Iran has been in the news lately because of its supposed support of Russia. there’s a growing body of evidence that suggests they did indeed send hundreds if not thousands of drones to Russia for use in Ukraine against the U.S proxy war against Russia there, and so very predictably the us is going to try to make Iran pay a price for that. they’re going to try to pressure and course them to stop supporting Russia, and if that doesn’t work they’ll just continue putting pressure on Iran until in their mind they could topple the government. that would solve the problem for good, wouldn’t it?”

He also reads this 2020 Financial Times article: US boosts funding of tech companies to help anti-Tehran protests

The outreach is part of a US government programme dedicated to internet freedom that supports dissident pressure inside Iran and complements America’s policy of “maximum pressure” over the regime.

The New Atlas comments “well they make this sound like this is about Free Speech versus censorship it but actually it’s about Iran trying to control its information space and the U.S trying to hijack it” – He talks very often about US manipulation in the information space of other countries.

Anyway, if you want to hear the specific regime change ideas put forth in the Brookings paper and the various ones talked about in the Western news outlets in 2009, 2012, and 2020, he reads out a lot of it in this video, specifically he reads out the Brookings chapters titled “The Velvet Revolution: Supporting a Popular Uprising” and “Inspiring an Insurgency: Supporting Iranian Minority and Opposition Groups”. It’s nothing you wouldn’t expect but it may be helpful nonetheless to have something specific like that to consider. I want to note that I don’t know many specific details on Iran’s recent political affairs.

Agree, he’s definitely not a socialist, but his anti-imperialism seems fairly principled and doesn’t seem like opportunism due to the current moment. His takes on China are damn fair too. Was really interesting seeing him on one of the recent Duran streams talking specifically about China. Like you could almost see him pushing them in a more principled anti-imperialist direction on the topic while they were talking (also crazy to see just how close they got to making a capitalism critique there lol). And would you know, just a couple days later they’ve explicitly started talking about imperialism even though they’re much more clearly right-wingers than him.

The way he goes about analyzing these mostly Western news is just very insightful and comprehensive without resorting to cheap sarcasm and hysteria. Really valuable source atm.
