Pretty good so far, on Season 2. This may be twisted but it instills this weird listfulness in me, sort of a deep-seated desire for a history where the U.S. was colonized by worse fascist empires (hear me out) which could lead to a revolutionary, anti-imperialist unity among Statesians. Not to mention that enduring such a thing would force Amerikans to actually develop a historical memory. But in reality the U.S. could never be colonized by a worse fascist regime, as it is the ultimate colonizer fascist empire.
All I’m saying is, patsocs are right. In the Man in the High Castle universe, that is, and pretty much only then.
Also pretty interesting line: in one of the Nazi schools, a kid asks another for help on his homework: 1: “How many slaves did Washington and Jefferson own?” 2: “Washington owned 300, Jefferson owned 600.” 1: “God bless America.”
Considering it’s distributed by Amazon, I’m assuming it’s very liberal. Either way, make sure to post here again if/when you finish the last season, especially if you liked the entire show
Amazon originals upset me because some of them are phenomenal. Invincible is not only one of my favorite animated shows, but one of my favorite pieces of contemporary media I’ve seen. The Boys is really good (at least S1-2, haven’t seen 3) and has some damn impressive criticism of the military industrial complex, celebrity worship, the military-entertainment-complex, and fascism. The Plot Against America is a great show in a similar vein to MITHC about Charles Lindbergh taking over the U.S. and a Jewish family struggling to survive – it portrays the Soviet Union in a very positive light, with the main lead watching a newsreel of the Eastern Front and cheering on the Red Army – “go get 'em boys”, etc. One of the main characters gets associated with communists when he defects to Canada to fight the Nazis, and he pays respect to the communists for being willing to fight the Nazis. It’s just crazy how some of this stuff made it onto Amazon. Something about them selling revolution back to us, I guess. But I still have huge respect for the showrunners and actors who made this stuff possible, even if its distributors are scum.
So far, no anti-communist stuff. Some lines indicating that Stalin was executed in 1949 and it spelled unimaginable doom for the world.
Sounds promising. I’ll have to look up the other shows you mentioned
woops Plot Against America is an HBO series, but it’s still awesome
spoiler
The last season was just…like argh…Apparently, the series was supposed to be much longer, but it got cut short by Amazon (so i heard), and what should’ve been 3 seasons worth of development was crammed into one.
Politically, you won’t really get any amazing insights from it. You might as well read Animal farm.
I have finally managed the spoiler feature 😈. Gonna go beastmode now.
Go grandpa!
You can even change the label “spoiler” btw
