This is one of the more minor ones, growing up in a family with a lot of domestic abuse meant that cops got called a lot, and always made things even worse than they already were.

One time when I was in college, we were having a party on a big homecoming weekend in the apt I lived in. In my state, they have bands of cops roaming different colleges on the party weekends to ticket ppl and make some revenue.

We get a knock for loud music, I open the door, cop kicks it into my face and then physically pulls me out of the apartment, tickets everyone underage including me, and we had to go to alcohol classes. At the classes, I heard horror stories from everyone who was there, none of them deserved to be. In one case a cop just picked up a beer can off the ground, found some kid and arrested them. It was his word against the cops. In all our cases it was easier to just pay the ticket and do the class, than fight it.

The whole thing was one of many rackets the cops do.
