I was banned from a single sub for wrong think. Months later for completely unrelated reasons I created a new account (I was looking to get healthy and wanted a fresh start rather than trying to clean up what I had). The sub that banned me was on the front page pretty often, and without realizing it I made a very middle of the road nothing comment there. The IP matched the ban list; they decided I was trying to get around the rules, and I was perma banned from the entire site. I was so bitter I wrote a script to use the API to delete all my posts and never went back. I had been trying to break my Reddit addiction for years, and all it took was them doing something I thought was unjust to make me hate them enough to never go back.

Had there been any way at all to view subs I was banned from, I could have looked at that and proactively blocked them so I never saw them again on my new account. However, reddit bans aren’t transparent, so here we are.

I’m happy spez shat the bed so many times recently. There weren’t any very good alternatives to reddit. I had tried Lemmy a year or so ago, but it was so dead I didn’t really stick around. That’s changed quite a bit.

I had the same think happen a few days ago, I have like 6 accts to prevent doxxing (which as happened more than once). Posted on my none main acct and they suspended 3 of the accts and banned all the others. I assume this mind you, I also have considered since I was VPN’ed that IP may have been flagged and I’m getting screwed.

But since they will never tell you all the details of the ban and have no channel to contest the banning I walked away.
