That’s because New England’s rural is like everywhere else’s (in the US at least) suburban…

The trouble is, batteries carry around their own oxidizers, so smothering doesn’t work as well…
I can relate to this one- I generally don’t like seafood, if I smell or taste it, I won’t enjoy what I’m eating even if it’s something else. But I can eat canned tuna, as long as it’s the good stuff, and a few times I have been talked into trying someone’s fish dish that they “cook differently”- usually it’s not different, but on two occasions, I have been surprised. 20 years ago a neighbor made some buttered shrimp that was quite good, and a few years ago my wife got me to try some smoked salmon, and I was ok with it.
I witnessed something like this once at a deli - lady is griping that the soups aren’t gluten free, but then goes right into deciding what rolls she wants… Meanwhile my stepmom has Celiac’s disease, and occasionally catches attitude from servers when she tries to figure out how serious they are about their gluten free options…
Why are you talking like that?
Long long ago in a callcenter not too far away, I made a guy choke on his drink. As required, I asked if there was anything else he needed before I ended the call, to which he replied “the winning lottery numbers?” I said “if I had those, I wouldn’t be talking to you.”
Well, one has porn, the other does not.
Long ago, I adopted a cat from a deaf girl. Weirdest thing, going to her house to pick one out, she had several, and none of them meowed. It was months before the one I picked out started meowing.
As a standalone movie, it wasn’t bad, but it has no business being part of the star wars franchise.
Remember when typewriters were a thing? How did anyone survive?
Sounds a lot like phoenix, except for the corn and snow… And it’s not usually muggy here, just that oven blast as you step out of your air conditioned space…
Well that explains why my job just expects me to know it without any warning… I’m almost 50, I have no problem learning new things if you tell me I need to, but when I was in school, computers were still luxuries…
There will always be tech un-savvy people who prefer to pay for something (and have someone to call when it doesn’t work) than have to spend 5 minutes learning how to do it themselves.
Like tears in rain…
Are you the “get out while you still can” guy?
Those of us born in the 70s… Doing anything with a computer required knowing at least a little programming, so we learned at 8 years old, then when we got to high school/college, we were taught by people who knew nothing about programming because they were already old and didn’t think they needed to learn anything new…
To be fair, I haven’t gotten a windows virus in at least 25 years either…
