This is hilarious. Also, did they just have half the cast in wigs?
I don’t know, immediately robbing the victim and then fleeing the scene is pretty suspicious…
How did someone who was in bed for 3 weeks contract this, I wonder?
Transported himself into Star Trek.
He died doing what he loved. Stealing bread.
Roll for constitution, or be hexed for 4-6 hours.
It’s not as vivid as seeing it for real, or even dreaming of it. It’s more akin to how you can “hear” a song that’s stuck in your head.
I mean, it’s definitely visual, but it’s not like I could recall or recreate it photographically.
I remember certain “broad strokes”, but my brain just fills in the details with approximations (that are probably wrong). Like, I could tell you which way the Mona Lisa is facing, the color of the background, what her hair and face sort of look like, but without googling, I have no idea what clothes she is wearing.
Speaking of ADHD, I’ve been into chess lately and have found it to be a really good way to practice extending my focus and not taking mental shortcuts, like I’m prone to do.
That last part is particularly interesting… So maybe it’s not just visual reasoning.
It’s incredible how our brains can accomplish the same things in different ways.
It’s not like the average player can picture the full board state and play blindfolded chess like some GMs can, but I’d expect that it’s pretty normal to visualize pieces on potential spots for tactics.
It’s not the same as seeing it visually, but yeah I’d say it’s a mental “render”. Sort of like how having a song stuck in your head isn’t the same as actually hearing it.
You move the pieces around in your mental picture of the board to reassess what the potential position would look like.
A large part of how we read emotions in other people is by looking at subtleties in their eyes. How open or closed, changes in shape that give away if they’re telling the truth, etc.
In media, they often use dark makeup around the eyes, a shadow, or something like dark sunglasses as shorthand to show that a character is mysterious and hard to read, therefore possibly dangerous.
I trust when something is “vegan” to mean it’s vegan, but “plant-based” means I’m checking the ingredients list to confirm that they know what they’re saying.
I’ve been to enough restaurants that refer to something as “plant-based”, but they just mean the burger patty (served with cheese and a ranch-based sauce!).
I love that he called it “vger”
I mean, probably Linux at some point. I’ve dipped my toes in as a complete novice, but I expect I’ll take the full dive eventually.
Whoa, that’s a big miss right there. I don’t play the Sicilian, so I didn’t even notice that they didn’t include it.
This user is just the latest in a series of spammers since Lemmy has grown in popularity. It’s hard to tell if they have some vendetta against the platform or are just maladjusted and want to annoy people having a good time.
As someone who posts across Lemmy a lot, I am usually made aware of the spammers almost immediately, because my inbox will be full of the same spam comment replies all at once. I just report them up to the various instances when I see it.
There are problems in the world, but it’s important to remember that both news and social media get way more engagement when showing you doom and outrage, so the most extreme takes rise to the top.
It’s good to be informed, but don’t let the doomsaying scare you out of living your life.
The pirate voice in my head nearly ran out of breath singing the post title.
