Bittou, November 5, 2025 (AIB) – The Bittou health district held an advocacy meeting with leaders from various social groups on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, to present the objectives and expectations of the polio eradication campaign, coupled with vitamin A+, deworming, and treatment of acute malnutrition, scheduled from November 7 to 10, 2025.
The campaign will take place from Friday, November 7th to Monday, November 10th, 2025 in the commune of Bittou and will coincide with the second round of the vitamin A supplementation campaign and the screening for acute malnutrition.
According to officials from the Bittou health district, the strategy adopted for successful vaccination is a door-to-door approach where each targeted child will receive two drops from the vial in their mouth.
The president of the special delegation of Bittou, Mohamed Lamine Diabaté, expressed his satisfaction to the participants for the frank exchanges and invited each community to support the health workers for the smooth running of the activity.
My local anarchist group hates Traoré. Probably because he is actually doing something that goes beyond soup kitchens.
They are really doing a lot and it shows. After all of the reading that I have done regarding Burkina Faso, I can see that they were socially stunted in a myriad of issues but now they are finally fixing those. Two example of the social issues that they are currently fixing are the following:
- Despite significant progress, with the national rate of DAL(public defecation) falling from 62% in 2010 to 33.6% in 2023, “the practice persists, particularly in unplanned urban areas” according to Catherine Zoungrana, project manager for the NGO-D/APS.
- 200 villages pledge to fight against female genital mutilation and child marriage
All of these issues that were left unresolved after the coup from Compraore are starting to be finally being dealt with and that gives me a lot of hope. If this trend of solving social issues keeps getting stronger, then we might see progress in LGBTQ topics as well.
