John Pilger also once wrote a great article about the 1972 coup in Australia with Gough Whitlam (or was that 1974? I forget the years sometimes… 😅)

I watched this a few months ago. Even tho Pilger does do the annoying westerner questioning why “china has no democracy”, he also does a good job of laying out the US’s extremely hawkish positions in SE asia.

And 1/4th of it focuses on the US testing atomic weapons on pacific islanders in order to observe the effects of radiation is really worth watching.

Pilger regularly writes for Red Flag newspaper which I’m sure is going to come as a shock to you when you learn that it’s a Trotskyist newspaper. I think that speaks volumes about the editorial line that he takes in this documentary — good on anti-imperialism, bad on AES.

Note that this documentary is almost 5 years old now so it might be a little out of date in some aspects however it’s useful as a measuring stick to analyze how things have progressed since the release.
