So, I’m not cool with genocide. Not cool with that at all. Even if they are landlords. I’m much more in favor of reeducation centers, personally. I’m against the death penalty on moral grounds. I believe that everyone deserves a second and third chance.

With that said, economically, I consider myself to be anarcho-communist or communalist or “left-communist” or whatever the fuck you want to call it.

But apparently all of that makes me a lib, and not welcome on the left? Is that correct?

??? Communism has nothing to do with whether you agree with death penalties or not. The existence of death penalties being a positive or negative force entirely depends on the material conditions of the place it’s implemented.

During the middle of a revolution or right afterwards while under attack from much more powerful capitalist forces it’s a lot more understandable to just kill the landlords and people that hoard all the resources while the regular folk starve, but in a place that’s developed enough and has enough security in upholding a proletariat controlled state it makes more sense to soften penalties.

Not everything is black and white, whether some actions are a positive force for good or not always depend on material conditions.

Genocide against landlord isn’t a thing. That’s a parasitic occupation, not an entire ethnic group. Genocide against ethnic groups and such is NEVER SUPPORTED under communism. It goes against everything communism stands for.

Also revolutions require violence to succeed. Capitalists can’t be voted out or talked into giving up all their wealth and power. That’s purely idealistic.

You are being called a lib, from what I can tell from this post, because you have not read enough and do not understand dialectical materialism.

You seem to function entirely based on hegalian thought aka idealism. Wanting to all be nice and hold hands and peacefully solve problems is fine, but it does not realistically solve the issue of capitalism and the horrors of capitalism.

If every non capitalist were like you and thought like you, there would never be a successful communist revolution and capitalists will forever hold power and increasingly make lives worse for everyone, especially with improving technology that can weigh the scales towards the capitalist more and more.

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Oppressors don’t need a second chance; if they needed it, they’d already realize their wrongdoing and stop oppressing. But almost no oppressors do this.

That being said, I’m sure us leftists are more than capable of spotting decent people, even if landlords and giving them another chance through reeducation. If they still continue their nonsense after that, well, sorry but they need to be culled.

Why? To keep a counter-revolutionary force/movement from arousing.

Also, you behave as if liberal democracies don’t do this shit either. Take a look at the amount of assassinations conducted by Usonian goons because people dared to talk against it. I’m talking people like Edward Snowden and Julian Assange here.

Every country does this shit. Even your “comrades” will do this too. Especially to fascists.

As much as I also believe in rehabilatory justice over punitive ones; ultimately there’ll always be people so convinced in their own delusional, foolish and harmful beliefs that the only option left at that point is to cull them out. Fascists and Nazis for one.

That being said, what “genocide” are we talking about here? Because usually it means to kill a lot of people of a given race/ethnicity; and if I recall, no AES countries have done this. Especially not the PRC.

Liberalism was originally a term to mean someone supporting capitalism as the primary means of production and exchange. Marxist circles tend to use terms according to their technical capacity rather than the common vernacular. Lemmygrad is a Marxist Lemmy instance and as such, tends to hold opinions thereof. For further reading Spagetisprettygood’s comment may help with the rest of your question.

People probably called you a lib because of the similarities between anarchists and liberals when it comes to supporting any kind of revolutionary movement in real life. Liberals oppose people’s struggles because they support the bourgeoisie, anarchists support it because the same flaws within the anarchist ideology blind them to have a more objective understanding of the material reality of the situation. A lot of times “anarchists” are just literally liberals painted black, there are some who are not like that, from what I’ve heard there are some people like that on HexBear. Still, there’s no mandatory “landlord genocide” along with communism, China has done a lot of reeducation (most famous case is that of the previous emperor, who later in life became a Marxist), but at some points during revolutionary process bloodshed is inevitable, otherwise it wouldn’t be an authoritative change of the status quo.

Firstly, landlords are an economic class, not a race, genetic classification, or even religion. It’s not genocide, literally, even if they were systematically killed. I’m not saying that to defend such an act, but to prevent false equivalence.

It’s not an inherent aspect of a person, a person isn’t irredeemable because they partake in capitalism. So killing someone only for being a landlord doesn’t make sense.

However, they have a material interest in fighting against the revolution, just like the bourgeois. So, it is likely a huge amount won’t be able to be ‘re-educated’. So it’s easy for people to generalise from that and see re-educating parasites to be futile. I’d say it would ideally be approached case by case, if we have the luxury to do so. Remember, we won’t have as much capacity for liberty in a class war. That’s been tried, and exploited, in many country-level uprisings.

No, not everyone deserves a second chance. Merely being a landlord isn’t enough to hit that irredeemable criteria, but many landlords will hit it.

Saying everyone deserves a second chance is liberal idealism, and its probably part of why you are being called a lib.

This is some liberal shit. Landlords play and indirect role in the exploitation of workers by draining their hard-earned money to get rich.

Reeducation can only work so much. For smaller landlords, (people who decided to move and rent out their old house for example) “reeducation” could work fine. Teach them the effects of their actions, show them compassion.

However, larger landlords know exactly what they are doing. People who are landlords as a career, they know exactly what they are doing. They know how their actions affect the working class, they don’t give a shit.

I’m not saying put them all in extermination camps. But they certainly cannot be taught the error of their ways.

It could always be done Mao style, where we don’t kill the landlords ourselves but do nothing to stop the screwed over tenants from ripping them apart limb by limb.

That’s sorta how I feel about everything like this. Like, obviously as an anarchist I don’t support rounding up the billionaires and politicians and landlords and executing them, but also I’m cool with looking the other way while those who’ve been screwed over by them get justice
