Jacobin pushed a lot of coup propaganda as the american regime went ahead with the coup (see here). Stealing Ollie’s work is a grotesque attempt at co-opting dissent (by force) against the global fascism imposed by the american regime. A common tactic of CIA controlled media and western NGOs.
They can’t stop Ollie, so they are trying to absorb him, to make naive americans think that Jacobin works with anti-imperialist journalists when in reality it aids imperialism, be it in Bolivia or Hong Kong. This is an attempt to save their reputation, so they can continue to spread propaganda about the next targets of the state department, like China.
Jacobin has consistently spread propaganda for the american regime whenever it goes ahead with a coup, sanctions or war. It’s increasingly harder to ignore its role in spreading american state propaganda.

That’s refreshing of Vargas to shun Jacobin. Too many promising young writers and cub reporters are willing to write for Jacobin and the likes, b/c it’d build their résumé and it’d get them exposure. It’s a shame such talents are wasted to prop up a publication that demeans and belittle actually-existing socialist nations.
