Good find, Makan. I second his taste for Leuchtterm paper. Good for fountain pens. I’ve got a refillable ink cartridge in mine and a few different coloured inks. When it’s empty I swap to a different colour. Sometimes the joy of seeing the ink flow is enough to keep me writing. It’s the little pleasures in life! The ink isn’t as cheap as cartridges, but it works out loads cheaper over time as the pots last for years.

Journaling could be a real benefit for revolutionaries of all types. Can you think of any good questions that we might add to his daily prompts that would help us be better Marxists? For when the writing doesn’t flow automatically? Maybe:

    • What problem did I have to face today as an individual and how could it be resolved collectively?

One of the philosophers the speaker mentioned, Alasdair MacIntyre, is worth reading. He wrote A Short History of Ethics. He’s also written a book about Marxism and Christianity. I believe he started as a Marxist and later changed his views.

Journaling is a real benefit to anyone and everyone. Besides, it’s private so it’s easier to jot your thoughts down without thinking that it’s going to be on the Internet for ever. Whether you choose to leave it behind or not is up to you. And yes, I’ve heard of Alasdair MacIntyre. He’s a staunch academic, but yeah, like a lot of academics from his generation, he changed his views here and there. Still useful, I think, but I never read him, I just know him second-hand.
