Why does this person think it’s about “big name” worship? I don’t care how Newton would feel about AI development. In the same way, I don’t care if Marx would agree with how future things developed. His contribution was a scientific one and others have built on what he observed and documented. If he were still here to observe and document, then he could continue to contribute - great! But he’s not. So it doesn’t really matter. What matters is accurate and effective development of theory and practice. So, if there’s an individual who is contributing a lot soundly, it makes sense to give their work attention. If they are no longer, you don’t hang on what you imagine they might have thought about future stuff.
