Dune seems to be everywhere now. Multiple board games, a MMO, strategy games, multiple movies.

With the recent resurgence of popularity of Dune thanks to the movie, curious what people think of it. It’s a series I have pretty fond memories of from when I was much younger, and have been considering maybe giving them a re-read to see how they hold up. Might even keep a blog on it, if people are interested.

I liked the first three books. After that it got too esoteric for my taste. The prequel books are unfairly maligned imo, they’re actually not bad.

I’ve only watched the 1984 adaptation and while i didn’t like the overall movie and the way it adapted the story, i did enjoy the visuals - very unique and trippy! I have no plans currently to watch any of the newer movies. They seem fine but i’m just not interested in the franchise right now.

I’ve only played one Dune game and that was 1994’s Dune II which pioneered the RTS genre and laid the foundation for the Command and Conquer series. It’s interesting from a historical point of view but that’s about it. It is one of the first games i remember playing when i was very young.

Books amazing. Ive read Dune more than any other book, always find something new.

Not a big fan of the recent movies though. If anything I like David Lynchs version cause it feels like fan fiction
