He dealt with the gang violence by literally putting everyone they think is a gang member in jail, to do that they invested a shit ton of money on jails, equipment, cops, etc … (guess who profits of this) Violence will bounce back because they are unable to fix the material conditions that lead people to join gangs on the first place, but meanwhile the far-right will point at this success to justify whatever they want.

Among other things he has done/tried, which are not really mentioned because these have been huge failures, are pushing bitcoins as a national currency and trying to turn El Salvador into a financial paradise for foreign oligarchs.
