This article, predictably, has some problems. Aside from being simplified for brevity, there are some odd word choices, like,

They knew that the Soviets would give them no mercy […] So they began their struggle to reach the Allied lines

That said, this is fine as a starting point for researching the subject. There is also this article, which came out earlier but its citations are of…questionable quality. (That, and the comment section is full of cringe.)

    Hmmm, I wonder why they all made for US and UK lines…

    Of course there’s also the implied distinction between Soviet and Allied, as if in the final weeks of the war the Soviets were on a different side somehow.

      Well sorta? It was a very different war for USSR than it was for the western powers, and arguably with different goals
