I have ADHD and am not currently taking medication because my job as a carpenter’s apprentice keeps me stimulated enough to get me through the day. However, when I have free time and try to read some theory, I am unable to focus or find the motivation to do so. Therefore, any method that can make reading even slightly more enjoyable is a real benefit.
Since I began my Marxist journey, I have mostly consumed theory via marxist.org and audiobooks from Socialism for All. I appreciate the ease of access with digital libraries, but it does make me more prone to my tangent style of learning, which I believe is unproductive. Although I like the tactile feel of books and the opportunity to take notes and highlight I don’t really want to buy books when I don’t have to.
Does anyone here have a similar problem or information about E-reader devices and whether they can facilitate more study-like reading with highlighting, note-taking, easy page switching, footnote links Etc?
You can highlight and type out your own notes on ereaders. Jumping to a particular page as opposed to section is kind of meh. And footnote links really only work if you pay for the book from whatever app store the reader is tied to. If you like… happen upon free pdfs… of books you want to read and load them up it breaks a lot of the navigation like chapters, footnotes, etc.
