Wonderful, crippling long term symptom number 453625. But remember! China stopping the spread is Evil Gommunism! >:(

Yeah, we’re running a giant experiment on the world population with covid, and we have no idea what long term effects are going to be. There is mounting evidence that reinfections of covid eventually lead to chronic problems in many people. So, we haven’t seen the full impact of the pandemic yet since people haven’t had a chance to get many reinfections yet. The real effects will be seen in a year or two.

Aside from the obvious humanitarian disaster that it is, there is also a severe economic cost associated with large swaths of the population becoming disabled since there will be an increase in healthcare costs and a reduced pool of labour.

China and Cuba were basically the only two countries to take the sensible approach of controlling the pandemic. This is already proving to be an incredibly prudent decision.

It’s great that they ruled out a lot of factors, like smoking and age. With all the accusations going around regarding the vaccine, I’d be more comfortable if they’d rule out vaccines as well. Seeing that the test group is veterans and the test is handled by the DVA, it’s easy to assume the test group is more vaccinated than the average and thus claim flawed statistics.

  • Makes sense after learning in autopsies COVID is found to be replicating in ~90% of all cell types. This possibly could be the first virus to possess both an immediate & latent mechanism of action.

Well not exactly, Chickenpox/Shingles, and HIV are two viruses off the top of my head that have latent and immediate mechanisms, but what makes this more terrifying is the sheer scale and spread of the infections, reinfections, and viral endurance. It is a worst case scenario medical nightmare.
