I remeber in high school when the Arab Spring happened that I had to do an assignment for I think Dutch class or something about a current news topic. I chose Libya and the Arab Spring.

I had to do a presentation about it. I wasn’t at all busy with politics. I remember researching Libya and Khadaffi and I remember thinking: ‘sure he may be a strange fellow, but what exactly did the guy do wrong? Libya was in a relatively good place. What warrented this kind of agression?’ and after completing the assignment I just was confused. Arguably, Libya was in a much worse space. My presentation probably didn’t make sense as I couldn’t find ways to make it coincide with what the media was saying. My teachers were probably just as confused.

Years later it all makes sense.

I was in middle school, like 8th grade when I saw a youtube video of an open air slave market in Libya and knew the US did this.
