So basically, many of the Steam game icons are 32x32 instead of higher resolution, I tried to look it up and it said to go to C, Program Files yadda yadda and find the icons in Steam folder and check the original .exe files, but the icons are low res there to begin with. I found the originals on SteamGridDB, but most of them are too small.

Where can I find the original Steam icons on higher resolution, enough to cover the whole thing? It looks so stupid like this.

There is no required standard resolution for a launcher icon, so the reason they’re so small is the developers just never made one larger than that. Windows used to just scale all icons to the same size, but that was changed for some reason at some point.

What you could do is manually edit the icons in gimp or krita and resize the icon to the same size as the other icons. Linear resize will make them bigger but a bit pixelated, but the other options will almost certainly just smudge the icons to hell and back because there are far too few pixels to work with.

Thanks, so could gimp or kirta increase their size from 32x32 to larger without destroying the quality with pixels?

You could go to 64x64 or 128x128, and it’s just going to be a larger but equally pixelated version of it. Think like pixel art. At least they won’t be weird and tiny (or at least, they’ll also be unnecessarily large like the other icon tiles)

There is no way to make it look like one of those tile style icons, you can’t simply gain detail or resolution that never existed, you can only make the pixels chunkier or you can make it blurrier. AI will also not be of any help here as the image sizes are too small.
