Of everything in the Rockies, only grizzly bears scare me more than moose. It’s extremely large, powerful, unpredictable, aggressive, and can run or swim faster than any human. I’ve accidentally crested a hill and been almost as close as they are, and that was existentially terrifying.
pictures and videos don’t properly convey the fact that these fuckers are the size of a minivan
They’re one of those animals that can be accurately described as a biological tank.
I have only ever seen them in pictures and videos, and I am properly terrified of these fuckers. They will absolutely wreck me, and I know it.
Deer I will cuss and scream at to gtfo my garden, I will stride right out and punch them in the face if they’ll hold still long enough, but a moose would make me leave, he can have the garden and maybe the house too.
Ah yes, this reminds me of the yearly dumb Americrackers who get drunk and hospitalised in Canada for literally exactly this.
Every few years there’s a close call or an injury or a death in Yellowstone when people get too close to bison.
Despite warnings, woman approaches bison for selfie in Yellowstone - YouTube.
According to an ex, there’s an ice cream stand at Yellowstone with televisions alongside the queue. They show looped footage of bison charging people as a PSA.
Here people do it with elk and I always just kind of stand there and watch. That’s a horse covered in knives. Be the PSA that saves lives.
Be the PSA that saves lives.
But do we really want morons staying in the gene pool?
We don’t want moose being euthanised for a pattern of attacking humans.
We don’t need some kind of bison induced eugenics program.
When I went to Yellowstone, bison closed the road multiple times and shuffled through the cars on their daily movements. We were inches away from them, just window glass between us. Their shoulder level was the top of the car, I could see the grass bits in their fur. We were along a steep hillside, if they wanted to shove our car into the ravine, they probably could. They had young calves with them. Everyone was chill and it ended up being a really memorable experience. It’s a pretty unique experience seeing an animal that can make a car feel small
