Personally I have been vegan for a year and a half and its mainly due to the fact that I recognise the wrongness in exploiting sentient beings by killing them so that we can eat them, etc etc. Also the DNA of an animal is so close to a human that it could also be considered a form of cannibalism if you eat them (think about that the next time you eat a mouth full of animal flesh)

I lived most of my life being ignorant of the horrorshow of carnist production. After I learned about it, how completely unethical it is, how much suffering it causes to animals who actively resist that suffering, how wasteful it is in terms of land and water, and how damaging to the environment it is, I could never go back. Humans surpassed the need animal consumption more than 10k years ago, with the agricultural revolution. Ever since then, meat consumption has been bourgeois imitation / a modest proposal.

Really nice comment. I agree with you on that point you made regarding the suffering inflicted upon animals. Its just unnecessary suffering so that we can enjoy eating them and exploting them for certain foods, clothing etc? The cost in terms of suffering and pain to these powerless and innocent animals is just wrong.

Also a nice watch for anyone that wants to learn more about animals and how we exploit them in this world I recommend watching Earthings https://vimeo.com/237062854 which goes into the horrors of what we do to animals.

I still have to watch that one yet, I’ve heard its good. I’ve only ever seen dominion, which I watched after I became vegan.
