BAGRAM, Afghanistan (AP) — The U.S. left Afghanistan's Bagram Airfield after nearly 20 years by shutting off the electricity and slipping away in the night without notifying the base's new Afghan commander, who discovered the Americans' departure more than two hours after they left, Afghan military officials said.
Hopefully the Biden administration handles refugees better than with the pull out from Iraq. The US abandoned people who had worked for them to their deaths. Hopefully better plans were put in place for Afghani people who were involved with the US and want out. And hopefully in not too many years Afghanistan will be able to rid itself of its particular brand of brutal conservatism.
I wouldnt get my hopes up too much. Its more likely that we will see a repeat of the Saigon punch
