I saw “MSHEU” in the titles of the current tide of nerd rage videos, guessed it was something monumentally stupid and looked it up

I wonder what the “WOMEN!??? ” chuds think of Mara Jade btw, she was pretty Mara Suey and there’s probably a sizable overlap between those nerds and the nerds who hate Disney for making that part of the franchise non-canon.
Prior to reading the Thrawn Trilogy I was one of those “wow she’s so cool” types from just hearing about her backstory on forums. But as soon as I read the books I disliked Mara since I feel like she’s two cool characters combined into one far less cool character. Specifically I think the Pirate and Emperor’s Hand bits feel weird together. It’s pretty telling that when people describe her they tend to entirely focus on the Emperor’s Hand-turned-Luke gf stuff and ignore the entire pirate plotline. So I think she’d be a stronger character if she was just one of the two. Preferably the pirate gf because I think Luke dating a pirate is very funny.
(Also doesn’t help that I read them when TFA was new. So seeing all the “Rey is a Mary Sue” criticisms coming from accounts I had previously seen praise Mara was giving me whiplash since Mara is far worse on that front. Although I wouldn’t criticise her for that since I hate using the term due to the sexist connotations)
But Mara Jade hot
Also, didn’t she start out as a Dark Side character that got defeated and redeemed by Luke before becoming his wife? They probably prefer that sort of story
If my memory is right, she actually wasn’t highly trained in the Force by the Emperor - deliberately so, so that she wouldn’t be a threat to him. She was trained just enough to improve her intuition and long-range telepathy to be a more effective agent. She sort of had a toe dipped into the dark side, rather than full-scale immersion.
She was still the hot action babe that fell in love with the audience insert which is what Star Wars fans in the 90s responded to
