I got banned from r/eurovision for dispelling myths about Bucha and saying the money from selling the trophy shouldn’t go to Azov

Why do Israel and Australia participate in Eurovision?

Israel because they are part of the EBU, which is the European Broadcasting Union. The EBU reaches further than Europe and North African countries and Levantine countries are also part of the EBU. So countries like Egypt and Morocco could also participate but choose not to, maybe because Israel is part of it. That’s the reason why Lebanon who was suppose to debute in 2005, didn’t participate in the end.

As for Australia, they were supposed to be a one-time thing for the 50th anniversary of Eurovision but they stayed in. Eurovision has always been popular in Australia
