It’s been a while since I made a thread like this, mostly because I have been busy and I didn’t have too much time to work out until in the past week.

I ran a trail run some weeks ago and I was pleased with my time. I am now going to focus on a 10 miles somewhere in spring 2024, so I’ll try to go running at least twice a week. Should be very much doable.

I did two home workouts this week, nothing too special. Diet has been good as well, so overall things are fine.

Cold showers has become a bit of a challenge. It’s getting colder over here and my bathroom is not that easy to heat, so it’s been a steady 10-13 degrees over there. The water temp is around 15 degrees too I think (at its coldest setting). Shit is cold yo. I know a few people who do cold showers as well and everyone keeps telling me the winter is the best, when it’s cold outside. They like the cold water best then. I think they are all lying. No sane person likes freezing to death lol. But at this point I won’t quit, mostly because I’m too stubborn for it it seems. We’ll see how winter goes.

How was your week?

  • I’ve been mostly sticking to my usual daily cardio and bodyweight routine at home, and my bum and thighs are definitely getting bigger. I split my favourite pair of jeans, my second favourite have been far too tight for several months, and I can’t afford to replace either of them. But it’s progress I guess.

We had a lot of rain here a couple of weeks ago which temporarily broke the boiler (landleech knows it keeps happening and doesn’t gaf) so I had some cold showers too. For me, they’re fine right after a workout but almost like a form of torture when you’re already freezing cold.

The thought alone of having cold showers in a cold house in winter makes me shiver, I’d scream if I really had to do it. That being said I do something which I’d recommend: start the shower with hot water and gradually “lower the heat” to cold water during it.

I guess it makes sense when you think of it as the water and the surrounding temperature being similar, but it probably is more a question of body temperature.

Anyway, I’m getting started with the snatch, pretty exciting. Have done some light training of some of the movements (high pulls, muscle snatches, overhead squats, etc.) and I’ve been surprisingly apt at them. I do need to switch my program around though, as I wasn’t aware of how taxing these exercises are on the shoulders but particularly on the traps.
