If you can’t be loved then be feared right ? So much for being a victim. Civilian deaths were awful a few days ago.
It’s not about a defense of Israel but about the intimidation of palestinians, who’ll be given even more fuel for hate with each deceased family member. Israel wouldn’t become more secure by killing tens of thousands of palestinians in retaliation(, on the contrary), nor would stopping now make them suddenly loved by the (pro-)palestinians.
Israel’s main threat comes from their neighbours, not from palestinians not strong enough by themselves to retake their country. And Israel has nuclear weapons so any invasion becomes complicated.
