I feel like a lot of people have never done a long road trip where you’re driving hundreds of miles through the night. Taking your phone out and snapping a pic isn’t a huge deal IMO. I certainly don’t pull over to change my radio and taking a picture is arguably easier than that.

To be fair, I just press the power button twice and it automatically opens the camera app. I wouldn’t even have to look to take this picture. That said, I don’t use my phone while driving because that shit is dangerous no matter what.

On my phone I double tap the power button to launch the camera, then use the volume buttons to snap a pic. Doesn’t require me to look away from the road. Framing isn’t always right, but it’s 100% doable without taking your eyes off the road

The maintenance gets tough after 80,000 miles. She’s a good wife for letting you know the good days are done.
Maybe in the 1970s. Any modern car worth owning will be way more reliable than that if you change your oil regularly.
We have a 2004 F-150 with 565,000 miles on the original engine and it’s still running great. We had to get a new transmission at 240k, and I think that’s the only repair it’s needed over about $200.00

I got multiple SAABs (Pre GM/1991 or older) to over 1,000,000 miles. Got one to 1,500,000. Never quite hit the golden 2,000,000 mile mark though. Plenty of other people did though. Volvo even has a couple cars that made it to 2,000,000. Don’t know of any other brands that will make it that far. Maybe some unicorn of a Honda or Toyota.
That’s insane. My Subaru is approaching 200k which I thought was pretty good.

Am I the only one here who doesn’t see the big deal? Op probably had to glance at their phone for like 2 seconds. If you’re going straight with no traffic I think that’s an extremely common thing to do once and a while, even to just switch music or whatever.
Nah, there’s several comments saying the same thing. Texting and driving is dangerous, yes. Taking a pic that takes literally no concentration for a few seconds on a long stretch of interstate at night, not very risky. I can almost guarantee the same people whining have fiddled with their phones to change songs/podcasts/audiobooks/GPS for a few seconds at some point in city traffic.
You don’t even need to look. Every smartphone will open the native camera app if you double tap the power button, while the screen is off.
