From what I’ve read, the developers said they would rather not even upload images to Lemmy, and that instead that should be handled by some other software, similarly to how Imgur is used in Reddit, but since there’s not something specific that works like that they allow them, videos on the other hand are a lot heavier so it could make a server hosting Lemmy super heavy in no time, which goes against the idea of being able to be hosted on a cheap server.
Now if you ask me, communities should have the option of being ethereal and deleting their posts after certain amount of time/posts, similarly to how image boards work.
Ahh, fair, I uploaded some stuff without creating an account, but yeah. Imgur is fine, or whatever you could find, there’s honestly no good libre software alternative, which is sad.

Do you know a good third party software for video uploading?
https://emalm.com/
I found that platform recently and I like that they have a video of communism in their front page so I’d recommend that. Lol.
When I created an account, the three options for gender choice were male, female, and attack helicopter, I think the site is run by reactionaries.
