So here is a generic question, I feel like I’ve been sharing too many news articles. My favorite so far is Final Doom - The Plutonia Experiment however it seems like Celeste can take it’s place. How about you? Bonus question: What is your favorite genre? I love First Person Shooters most myself.

I may have spent thousands of hours in Civilization V, Rimworld, Europa Universalis IV and Pokémon games, but if I had to choose…

    • Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – One of the first big RPGs I played. It was the 3DS version and I loved every second of it.
    • Animal Crossing: Wild World – Even though the graphics were shitty on the DS, I adore the cozy feel of the game. Everything is so smol and tightly packed together, and visiting friends in this tiny world was the shit back in the day.
    • Minecraft – Maybe it’s the early nostalgia in me, but I feel like I’ll never really grow out of this game. Caving and building are just so fun, and I could always return to a new save and start exploring some of that b1.7.3.

I unironically think Euro Truck Simulator 2 is one of the best games ever made. I don’t drive or have interest in car / trucks. But it’s a great game to play while listening to a podcast or some YouTube video. It’s really atmospheric and relaxing, zero stress.

Aside from that, Rimworld, Stellaris, Counter Stringe GO, Fistful of Frags.

ETS2 is such a chill game. It helped me relieve stress as a student. I wish I could give it a go in VR with my Logitech G29. Sadly, VR is expensive :-(

Probably the first Portal. It’s one of the first games I had on PC that I didn’t pirate (technically the first, but I bought like 5 of them at once, so…), and it’s also the one that got me into the idea of recording and editing gameplay, which basically got me started into the path of the job I have today, even if it’s not directly related by it.

And it still holds up, that’s what’s the most amazing part of it. There’s been alrady 8 years since I played it and it’s still a simple, amazing game. Where the sequel went for a more flashy and film-esque approach to its story, this first game gets the mood way more, in my opinion.

I have such a love-hate relationship with this series! I love the series as a whole but man half of the games are awful. I will never stop playing them all and enjoying them, though (':

Furi is insanely good! I’ve never seen such a mix of genres before. The story is pretty captivating with enough left open that there are still discussions about it today. Plus the OST is killer.

        What’s your gripe with TLoU?

It’s a Zombie game. It has a dark tone to boot, which isn’t bad in on itself I just don’t like the premise in this case. And from what I’ve seen there isn’t much of a game rather it’s a movie that makes you occasionally press buttons to make sure you are still paying attention. Truth be told I didn’t actually play this game and I woukdn’t play it if I had the chance.

My introduction to the Souls-like genre was Hollow Kight, it didn’t make a good first impression to say the least :(

Souls-like mechanics ruined everything for me. Having only 2 checkpoints in a big map and having them both really far away from the boss isn’t fun for me. I can’t learn his pattern becsuse I forget whay little I have learned while trying to get back to him, having to hunt your soul just to get your stuff back is also very frustrating. I will probably play Dark Souls at one point just for the sake of being open-minded, but I am not looking forward to it at all.

Aah, I guess I can understand that! I like games that are a bit punishing, so for me those are not huge hurdles stopping me from enjoying the game. But hey, thank God we’re all different :grinning face with smiling eyes:

Hollow Knight is more of a Metroidvania than a Soulslike, probably. Those terms are pretty vague though.

While my personal fave is Demon Souls, They took their experience with that and pretty much improved everything with Dark Souls. Def the best of the bunch.

The game I had the most fun playing is unepic. The story is super funny, and the gameplay is quite cool, with a lot of engaging actions, decent challenge if you play in hard mode (I recommend doing the game once in hard for the best experience, then once in easy and hard++ if you want the achievements).

I also recommend that you get it with a few friends so that you can play the multiplayer dungeons together.

    Metroid Prime

I can’t put into words how much I love that game.

I really can’t decide between RPG, Metroid-like or just good plain Adventure for my favorite genre, but most of my favorite games are one of those.

Please, do! From soundtrack, to ambiance, to gameplay, it’s all just so good, and the game aged like wine.

I want to try that game but I don’t think setting it up on Dolphin with mouse and keyboard would be the most straightforward.

I believe there are guides for exactly that. You can even use the mouse as the Wii cursor if you play the MP Trilogy version, it’s definitely worth a try.

I actually have Chrono Trigger on my PC, I should play it once I’m done with Celeste and Half-Life: Blue Shift. SNES is a RPG heaven, I doubt it’s better than Mother 2 tho ;)
