Does seem a bit stupid for people who don’t speak English to be using an acronym that uses English words. As if they’re only calling themselves SWAT to try to be like American swat teams. American cops don’t have Chinese on their vest and if they did it would probably just say “police” not “equivalent of Chinese special weapons and tactics”

Unless it’s state propaganda aimed at English speaking countries.

The one time somebody finally questions the presence of English in a foreign context… is this. Almost every goddamn radio station in Europe plays English‐language songs and nobody has noticed this. Almost every piece of modern Japanese media needs a dab of English in it somewhere that they can’t fucking read. I’ve watched dozens of recordings of natives speaking French or Spanish and suddenly dropping in an English phrase because it’s ‘cool’ or whatever the fuck. But this? This is the moment when somebody finally paid a little attention and made an observation on how incongruous it was to see English in a foreign context? When the PRC was involved? Are you fucking kidding me?
