These are so bad that it makes me wonder if they’re careful acts of parody
You’d think so, except that would call attention to how bizarre their product (expensive ai-generated cartoon porn? That’s what it looks like anyway…) really is
I thought Replika shut down all the horny ads and denounced using it for that even though that was the only reason people used it
I used to have the Replika app before it had these weird avatars to appeal to incels. It was just some AI chatbot, similar to chatgpt but friendlier and less smart. The bot could even help with your mental health. It’s sad how much Replika has changed since then…
They actually stooped to this level? They used to advertise it as emotional support.
And it did what it said it was supposed to do at the time. I can’t say I am surprised that this happened, but knowing its original purpose and watching the creators talk about why they made it. I am disappointed.
Wasn’t it Replika that started telling depressed people to kill themselves?
I have no idea, but it was fine when I had tried it.
NVM, it was one called Eliza, and gave himself an existential spiral.
Would be a good explanation for the pivot from therapy to e-thottery though. Maybe they just realized it was a liability nightmare, and most of the dudes were just horny anyways…
When a meme has exactly zero layers of irony and doesn’t even have a punchline while also being a thinly veiled ad.

Everyone needs to watch this video – it’s long, but she did a great job of spelling out the unavoidably insidious nature of Replika and… Some other things.
It bothers me that she is holding a cup in her hand for 53 minutes and never drinks from it.
Wasn’t gonna click the link. Now I’m DEFINITELY not going to.
