    Good for the Chinese and, hey, maybe the POWs will be turned into comrades. From what I know, many Japanese defected to the Chinese communists during the Sino-Japanese war. Certainly, this was the case with many Chinese themselves under Chiang Kai-shek and Japanese commanders alike.
