“Yeah guys, the peasant communists who ended slavery in the mainland were definitely the Chinese equivalent of the American Confederacy.” - American ‘anti-capitalist’.
We are supposed to build solidarity with these clowns?
You wouldn’t even have to counterargue this comparison yourself, you can have a pro-confederate American do it for you.
I mean I guess the analogy is more on how the confederates and the communists were both the group not originally in power at the start of the civil war. I don’t think they meant to say the communists are as bad as the confederates.
Literally compared ROC with the Union and PRC with the confederacy.
Yes in the sense that the ROC and the Union were in power originally, then a rebellion/revolutionary force rose up against it. I mean it’s not the best analogy, but I see what they’re going for. It’s not an ideological comparison between the two, but relative powers at the start of the conflict.
they flipped the sides on the already existing analogy
makes it pretty suspect to me
it kinda makes sense if you try to give them some leeway in their limited scope. i’d try to assume some good faith and think that he’s just giving a very exaggerated example
That person calls China imperialist.
