If I had to guess (and reddit admins don’t need a reason) it was either the “hate” against police (CTH mods before quarantine noted removal of reddit rule abiding posts that were anti-police and contained no violent language by the reddit admins among other removals) who the reddit admins are apparently massive bootlickers for (rumors of cops infiltrating and running top subreddits may not just be rumors). Or maybe the landlord stuff or if they wanted to go with the current political climate they can just say denying China has murdered elevenity billion Muslims in Xinjiang is in fact hate speech and on par with denial of the very real holocaust.
We’re not 100% sure, could be “uyghur genocide” denial, or just having chapo in the name and being associated with it.
I do agree that with the amount of copaganda that we see, at the very least, most of the biggest subreddit mods turn a blind eye to it. Half of /r/upliftingnews 's (IE /r/latestagedystopia) top posts are just blatant copaganda.
There is no way to be 100% sure. I didn’t see the ban message actually states hate at first so I assumed it was a ban evasion ban but it isn’t, still I’d bet that contributed to it. We’ll know for sure soon if the admins just start axing every left sub that defies the US state dept propaganda on whatever nonsense they (or more importantly their media partners as they’re fairly careful, it’s the media that says in a definitive tone that China is committing genocide) have conjured up.
It’s enough to make me want for there to be retaliatory brigades against reddit if they do that. Most communists on reddit are fairly happy to just sit in our own subs and commiserate while some individuals occasionally venture out to the front-page subs (where surely we’re outnumbered) to opine on things alongside everyone from open fascists to liberals and often get downvoted for our troubles. But if they go after all our spaces. Well I swear I’m already seeing a rise in reactionary thought on reddit since CTH’s banning, I really do think they got rid of some natural anti-bodies and counterbalances to the reactionary forces they’re trying to keep hidden from advertisers, they’ve disrupted the homeostasis.
