Internal Dutch contradictions, nothing new to see here. They will fold to the US (or be undermined) as usual. While they tend to have logic, they rarely have the stones to stand up for something unpopular. As the Dutch saying goes “steek je kop niet boven het maaiveld uit” - Don’t stick you head above the ground. Someone will get to the minister and this will go away. Unfortunately.
