This community needs are few finishing touches, and I’d like Lemmygrad to help with deciding on them.

Firstly, a community profile picture is needed. What symbols, images, etc. represent either the concept of colonialism, or represent natives? What colours are commonly used for this purpose?

Second, the community needs a banner. What images evoke decolonization, rage against colonizers, or solidarity between colonized peoples?

Finally, the rules need to be set. What are some rules this community would benefit from having?

specifically american settler colonialism is represented well by the idea manifest destiny, the monroe doctrine, and when benjamin moore said /sea to shining to sea/. so there’s potential of representing colonialism there. not sure what colors are invoked with that, or what to use for symbols exactly tho

decolonial art often focuses on the pillars of colonialism, and their toppling. the grappling with and breaking of chains/cages. something interesting might be tearing out colonial propaganda from history books, or correcting colonial propaganda akin to some memes that correct propaganda headlines. imagery of hands joining around the world is also often used a decolonial art.

i did a dall-e mini image using craiyon just to see what would come up, might be something that interests someone:

edit: wanted to mention that i find monroe doctrine pertinent as the usa is pushing it’s global monroe doctrine agenda and expanding neocolonialism
